I am SO grossed out!!!

The girls were outside playing in the snow before lunch today, I called them to come in and Reygann told me they had something to show me and Kylie was getting it.   I asked if it was an animal and she said no.  I really had no idea what it could have been since they are always bringing home treasures.   Imagine my surprise when Kylie walks into the kitchen (while we are still cooking) holding a dead bird!  Yes, a DEAD BIRD!  ACK!!!  Umm, how is a dead bird not an animal??  *Shudder*  I may have freaked out just a tiny bit telling her to get it out and not to touch ANYTHING!!  I had Daddy scrub their hands, then had them use sanitizer, and honestly I’m still grossed out!  I would have made them wear gloves to eat if I think they could have!   Ewwww!!!!

House Update

We’ve been working on the house again!  This time on finishing the basement (future playroom).   Deric wanted to have the ceiling easily removable incase we needed to get into the ductwork and plumbing.  Drywall was out and we didn’t like the idea of ceiling tiles, so we used a bead board type of siding on the ceiling!

BasementCeiling BasementCeiling-1

We rented a drywall lift to help get it up there, the helper we already had!

BasementCeiling-2 BasementCeiling-3

I love how stylish Brody is!  Ha-haaa!

BasementCeiling-4

He was a good helper, helping Daddy cut the wood…

BasementCeiling-5

and screw it too.

BasementCeiling-6

But we did have to put a stop to this!  You think he would have learned the first time!

BasementCeiling-7

After awhile he found this bungie and had to hook it on everything

BasementCeiling-8

and I mean EVERYTHING!

BasementCeiling-9

I love that he is chasing daddy with it here

BasementCeiling-10

and catching him

BasementCeiling-11 BasementCeiling-12 BasementCeiling-13

after being ‘caught’ too many times daddy ‘caught’ Brody and tied him up!

BasementCeiling-14 BasementCeiling-15

After a tickle he set him free… but he kept it up so Daddy caught him again

BasementCeiling-16

and tied him to the plank this time!

BasementCeiling-17 BasementCeiling-18

but the little bugger figured out how to see himself free!  :0)

BasementCeiling-19

Cutting the last ceiling piece!  Yippie!!  I didn’t take any pictures last weekend, but the parts of the walls that are being drywalled are drywalled, taped, and sanded!  He is going to parge the bottom of the cement walls and then I think I can paint!!  YIPPIE!!  I have the colors for the walls, but I haven’t figured out the bathroom colors yet, I better get on that!

Man-entines Day

Three years ago I saw this sign, but didn’t think about it again since (sorry the text is hard to read, it’s easier if you highlight it).  Until I was driving down the road and saw it again this year.  I always thought it was a joke, but I heard somewhere it wasn’t so I thought it would be fun to check it out!   I decided it would be more fun if it was a surprise.

ManentinesDay

I had to snap one in the car, I think this is the only kind of picture I like getting taken!

ManentinesDay-1

Proof that we were actually there!

ManentinesDay-9

ManentinesDay-3 ManentinesDay-4

Not only did we have to make reservations, but they had the place all decorated too.  There were tablecloths on the tables, with candles and flowers (except our table was missing them), hearts hanging from the ceiling, and stickers on the walls.  We had to wait to be seated, they gave us menus, and had waiters come take our orders.  The waiters weren’t that used to serving though… it took about 20 minutes before they came to take our order!  Oops!

ManentinesDay-10

ManentinesDay-5

I told him his gift was related to dinner, not a gift kind of gift.  It was more like a White Castle Survival kit!

ManentinesDay-6 ManentinesDay-7

He opened it up, but said there was no way he was going to spread it out on the table!

ManentinesDay-8

I don’t know why not!  Wouldn’t you have spread this out for everyone to see?  :0)

  ManentinesDay-11

Just incase you need a better look… We have room spray (I forgot to buy air freshener), imodium, disinfecting spray (incase the urge hits somewhere with less than stellar bathrooms!), reading material, beano, gas-x (incase you forgot to take the beano before), tums, preparation H (regular and itchy!), wipes, and toilet paper wipes!  Oh and I threw in some Boston Baked Beans incase he needs a little jump start!   He-hee!  I thought it was pretty funny, and it was nice to actually surprise him!  I think the best part is that the parking lot connects to a nice Japanese restaurant, so I had him pull into there to drive over to White Castle.  I think he thought we were going to end up at the Japanese place cause he turned on his turn signal before I told him to turn!  The only disappointing thing about the night was that we wanted to grab a coffee at a local coffee place and we got there 1 minute after they closed! :0( We know the owners, and I'm sure they wouldn't have minded, but we didn't want to be 'those people' (and we didn't see them in there). Bummer, I was looking forward to the Carmel Apple Cider! Yumm!

Now it’s his turn.  I took him out for 'Man-entines' day, and he’s supposed to take me out somewhere now.  I told him mine doesn’t need to be a surprise though!

Sledding!

After a lot of asking (as soon as there was the tiniest bit of snow) we finally took the kids sledding at my parents house.  They have a nice hill and it’s great since there aren’t other people around   ...and I can go inside!  Brody still HATES being outside in the snow, so it’s great for him too!

Sledding

Daddy took a few trips down the hill to pack the snow down.

Sledding-1

…And Brody already lost his gloves and was freaking out about being cold.  The kids hadn’t even gone down yet!  (And he went inside right after this picture without ever going down the hill!)

Sledding-2

Daddy and Reygann took the first trip down the hill

Sledding-3 Sledding-4

Then Kylie went (sorry about the crappy picture), you can kinda tell how deep the snow is here… but you can see it better on Brody up a few picts though.

Sledding-5

Next we dug out the toboggan and all three of them went down!  It was late and I was running out of light so most of the picts are blurry, but I like the motion in them still.

Sledding-6

He gave it a running start and they flew!

Sledding-7

…and he had to drag his legs behind him at the end and jump off to stop it before it went into the swale!

Sledding-8

It was handy that these stones were here… they were the only thing standing between the the toboggan and the swale!  You can kinda tell how it drops off after them.

Sledding-9

Reygann liked going down backwards (and spinning around and around)

Sledding-10

Kylie tried it on her stomach once… she got a face full of snow, she stuck to the regular way after that!

Sledding-11

Taking the toboggan down again

Sledding-12

(See, isn’t the motion fun?)

My happy sledders

…and watcher!  :0)

Snow People

The last big snow storm we had we went out and built snowmen.  The kids did this one by themselves, they found the sticks and came up with the rocks on their own.  It’s back by the barn, and even though it’s rained and mostly melted there is still a snowman lump left.

SnowmanBack SnowmanFront

After Deric and I were done working in the barn we went into the front of the house and built another snowman.  I was hoping we could make a huge one, but this was as big as he got.  The girls were happy though.  Brody was not.  He snuck inside, broke into the pantry and helped himself to a snack while we worked!

SnowmanFront-1

He is also now just a lump on the lawn… but what I just (like right now) realized is what happened to his scarf?!  I don’t think it is out there with the lump, but I didn’t go get it either!  Humm…
