House Update

So of course once again I am so behind on my blogging! And I should really be painting now instead of this, but oh well! I haven't done a house update in a while so here goes... The drywall is taped, sanded, primed, and mostly painted! I still have to paint the foyer and powder room and I'll be done! Oh, I have to fix the glaze in our room again too. I'll be glad to be done with painting for a while, but I don't get a break. There is 600+ sq ft of trim to stain and varnish! Plus all the rest of the lumber for the stairs and stuff. I kinda feel like I'm going to be holding progress up since you can't do the floors till the baseboards are on. I ordered our bathroom tile yesterday, so Deric should be tiling our bathroom next weekend! So I really should get busy!

Deric had to take the old header out to finish opening up for the stairs.
When he took the plastic down I kinda got a feel for how it was going to look when it's finished. The hole has always had a wall, moving blanket, or plastic up so I've never really seen the whole thing before!

Brody was helping to steady daddy while he worked on the taping.

He did this to me while I was up there taping the plastic down and I nearly fell off the ladder (and the stairs too!)

Two Sundays ago we headed to Menards after Church. We got a TON of stuff for the house, but there were a few things they didn't have so after we were done there we headed to Home Depot. After already being at the 'daddy store' for forever we really needed some chill time. We needed a flat cart to get some bigger items, and the other kind for all the trim and of course neither kind comes with a place to put your kids! So without any other options we let Brody run free! He did a really good job obeying and staying with us, but got a little restless while we were picking out the trim (I don't blame him, we were there forever I was getting restless too!)

Brody was being helpful picking out trim for daddy

He was all up in the rack picking out the perfect pieces for daddy!

Our caravan

See how helpful he is being?
Hi guys, I'm cute! Did you know that?
Reygann was in her own little world near the cutting station. It was already way past nap time so I thought she was just standing there in a daze...

I was wrong, she turned around and she was covered in sawdust!! She had been sweeping it with her hand and sprinkling it on the floor!

Kylie found a spindle and pretended to use it as a cane. That was a hit! Pretty soon all of them had 'canes'!

Here they are pretending to be old people!

Look at those hunched bodies! Aren't they so funny!

We FINALLY left the trim area and moved on to toilets. This is the girls favorite part of the store. They love going under the shelves and walking through the maze of boxes. This time they took this game to the next level by actually crawling over the boxes too. Even Brody joined in on the fun.

We ended up not getting home till just before 7! It was a crazy (but fun) long day. We left for Church by 10 and only went to the 2 home stores. That is some serious shopping!

Beauty shop confessions

Pardon the pans and tupperware waiting to be put away, and the junk from the junk drawer that I had been cleaning out before I had to stop for haircuts... but I just had to share this with you. She is SO cute!!!

My Little Princesses

This was totally my girls the other morning (fast forward it to 9:50)... I'll wait for you to watch it.

But lets back track a little... The girls keep telling me that they are cold so I've been looking for another blanket for their beds... but man are they pricey!! (Especially when you need 2!) So when I was walking through Target I ran across these cute quilts on clearance! Woo-hoo!! I just love them! I was in a rush when I got home so I left my bags in the car (I don't remember what I was out doing, but it was just Brody and me). The next day Deric's truck was full of stuff for the house and he didn't have time to empty it before work (the back was hanging open) so I told him to take my car cause I didn't have plans to go anywhere, and if I really had to go somewhere I could take a few things out till I could close the back... Anyways (dang bunny trails!) I grabbed my Target stuff from the back and brought it in, the kids were already sleeping so I threw their new quilts over them so they would be warmer, not thinking that they were going to be surprised in the morning! They were so shocked!

They called me and told me I had to close my eyes because they had a surprise for me! I pretended to be surprised and asked them how they got them, and if they stole them! (The Little Princess was accused of stealing the quilt and other stuff.) They started shrieking that they didn't steal them, and I told them I was going to call the police! I grabbed the camera and took a video of them, except they were in that goofy mood now and then couldn't even remember the name of the movie, and I think Reygann was still half asleep my little zombie!

Anyways pardon the video... the messy bookshelve... and the lack of headboards and foot boards! (Believe it or not the headboards and foot boards are painted and just need a second coat... and yet they sit, untouched. Sigh.)

I really, REALLY want the matching shams for this, but they are sold out in my store! :0( I have called all over the place around here trying to find them, I have called so many stores I have the skew number memorized (060101139, see)!! We are going on a little trip Sunday so I am going to see if we can stop at Target out there so I can check... I already called them and they didn't have any (much less 2) but there is bound to be more than one Target, right!? I've even hunted online and they don't have them either, I am SO bummed!

Ugh

I have been painting like a crazy lady... now I have the flu... and I'm feeling guilty for not updating. I have a ton of pictures to upload, so hopefully soon. Maybe I'll be up to it after I nap.

My Sweetie Pie

Last night we were at a Bulls game so no Reygann stalling installment today! But she did wake up whimpering a few times. So I finally went into her room even though she was sleeping to make her feel better. I asked her what was wrong and she told me she wanted "her Mommy, she missed her" and started crying a little. I told her I was mommy, and she said "No you're not! I wanted Mommy!" (Mamaw was watching the kids) I said Honey, it is Mommy! And she told me she wanted to feel my fingernails to see if it was me! So she rubbed my hand and sat up and said I can see your face, you are Mommy! By this point I was freezing so I had crawled under the covers with her and we snuggled until she was snoring again (both girls are congested and sound beautiful right now!). She can be so sweet sometimes, I'm gonna miss my little sweetie pie when she grows up! Maybe we will have to have more midnight rendezvous...

Stalling, again!

And so it starts...

Reygann: "I need to tell you something, I really need to tell you something. "I'm not really tired I think."

Me: Oh yeah? Go to bed

Reygann: "I need to tell you one more thing, Why, who turned the volume down and I wanna know."

Me: Does it matter who turned it down? Go to bed.

Reygann: "But, who turned it down?"

Me: Daddy did, daddy turned it down.

Reygann: "Oh I get it!" I get it that daddy turned down the volume on the movie. I need to tell you one more thing that is part of the turning down thing. Why did he turn it down, the volume thingy, with the tv off?"

Me: He turned it down so I could hear you. Go to bed.

Reygann: "Ok, mom." (long pause) "Hey mama, why did we have to take a bath? And are we going something special in the morning? Can we go um, go to somebody's house or something, can we? Then can we go to Zegers, that's a house."

Me: No honey, Kylie has school in the morning. Go to bed!

Reygann "Gurrrrr!"

(comes back again) "And Mom? Can Ky scratch my itchy spot in my back because I have another one."

Me: Yes, then get in bed.

(comes back yet again)
Reygann: "Mama? I need to tell you one more thing? Can YOU scratch my back, Ky wouldn't and it is really itchy."

Me: No, ask her again nicely and do not come out again!

Stalling at bedtime

Reygann came out over and over again tonight. She had stuff on her mind that apparently she needed to get off her chest, she "wants to keep me because she loves me and wants to give me happiness and love for a present and for my person." She came back and told me that I am "pretty and thankful" and she wants to give me love for a present and keep me forever. She's so cute when she is stalling!

Diaper Disaster

Right before Christmas (and a bunch of people coming over) Brody decided to play a fun game called 'Lets take off my VERY full diaper, and run around the house dragging it behind me'. Mommy didn't like this game one bit! It started after breakfast, Brody was upstairs playing with the girls. At some point he took his pants off, then his diaper... except it didn't unhook itself. The two tabs that hook in the front were stuck to each other and he just pulled out the rest from under it. So he was dragging it around behind him! I'm guessing he was jumping on the bed, because Kylie came and told me Brody took his pants off and there was wet stuff all over. Sure enough there were wet little gel blobs all over!! I was checking out the damage and Brody slipped out the room making a trail behind him. I finally caught up with him near the kitchen and snapped a few pictures before I took care of the situation!

Looking at his new tail

Dragging it around

See, the tabs are stuck... but the diaper isn't there!

and just a tiny portion of the mess he made!

She's Stuck

Reygann was having issues getting dressed today

Poor little thing got stuck getting into her shirt

she was a little cranky and was all fussy about being stuck

nothing a little tickle wouldn't fix

Lookin' good cutie pie!

Pieces of Christmas

Now that Christmas is mostly put away (well, sitting by the back door waiting to be brought out to the barn) I thought I would post a few picts of my favorite pieces in no particular order...

I love this ornament, too bad it doesn't have the whole family on it. I love all the details, the raised sparkly snow, and glittery hats and scarves... I still put it out, just more towards the back now.
This is my favorite new ornament. I got it this year since my tree was looking really sad. I got two and went back to the after Christmas sales and couldn't find any more. So sad!

This year I made a cranberry garland. This year I also bought a wooden cranberry garland on clearance! That was a sticky pain (literally! My fingers were so sore!), and to top it off it started getting moldy!

I've had this tin thing for a few years but never really knew what to do with it. This year I figured it out! It fit perfectly between the doors. I added a snowflake on the right side to balance it out... and I put it in the box as is so it is ready for next year!

These are my new stockings, I love them! We have always had snowman stockings and they never matched and really looked pretty bad together! I am so glad I have a good set now (and that I got them half off!). I also got a new Christmas tree skirt that goes along with these, yea!

These trees are also new, I love 50% off before Christmas sales!!

They worked perfectly up here, until the sled slid down (it was leaning on one leg) causing the snowman face to fall knocking the tree off the top of the cabinet. I was SO devastated that it broke. I saved the pieces I found (a lot of small tiny pieces) so hopefully I can glue it back together. I called ALL the Hobby Lobby's in the area and none of them had any more. I've even searched Ebay! I'm still bummed!

And to top it off, I like my wreath a lot better now that I gave it a face lift! Funny how that works!
